Thor [Watched]

Another late review, apologies for the wait.

I remember watching the trailer a couple of weeks back and I said to myself, how can they make a film about a god different from all the rest of the films? I couldn't wait to see the fight scenes especially in a film as impacting as Thor. I was expecting lots of lightning and skull crushing blows with that massive hammer and guess what?

It delivered. I left the cinema a happy man. Kenneth Branagh, I salute you.

Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins and Tom Hiddleston were perfect for the roles of Thor, Odin and Loki, the three people who I believe were the real driving force of the film.

Hemsworth's acting was so on point that I couldn't believe it. Branagh made a wise choice by letting him play the role. Hiddleston's lean look made him the perfect role for Loki. I watched the animated episodes when I was younger and seeing these guys on the big screen making the animation's come to life was top notch.

My favourite scene was when Thor was banished from Asgard and when Odin displayed his disappointment in him. That scene showed me first hand how powerful Odin was and he was still in charge despite Thor chosen to be the next King.

What I really liked about the film was the underlying story behind everything, how Loki wasn't going to be given the throne in the first place because he wasn't Odin's child thus empowering him to seek revenge on him and Thor. He was calm and sinister at the same time, turning against his childhood friends and even his foster parents. What an evil guy.

Also, how Thor wasn't worthy of taking the throne because of his arrogance and quick temper but as the film progresses he was willing to protect a world he doesn't belong to despite not him having his godly powers (even though we knew he was getting his powers back.)

Thor made $435 million worldwide.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: I cannot wait for The Avengers movie to come out.

Ill rate this film 4/5 stars. A decent film to watch.

Once again apologies for the late review.

Until then, Enjoy Life.

Podcasting: Podcast and Website

Hey guys, how you doing? Hope you're enjoying life.

This is my first entry concerning my work from University, it took me a while to decided what to start with so I thought I'd start off with this:

As you all know I study Broadcast Journalism and for one of my modules, I had to create a podcast and a website of any topic of my choosing. I was very excited about the website bit as it was a chance for me to learn how to make a website and to develop my personal skills from it. My topic of discussion was public transport because there was a lot of news circulating about the state of the tubes and I thought if I could keep up with the news, then I would get my work over and done with, but to be honest, it was harder than I thought.

For my podcast, I went out on the streets of London (Camberwell to be precise) to record some vox pops (Voice of the People) about their views on public transport. Once I collected all of them, I used Adobe Soundbooth to edit the sound clips together. That was the easy part over.
The website however gave me problems. Because it was my first attempt to make a website, I didn't have clue on how to start it off despite given a booklet to help me out. Gathering information and pictures was easy enough, but laying it out onto the page was a tad difficult. Long story short, I was given another opportunity to work on my website and I did better the second time around. I think I did a good job despite not using Adobe Dreamweaver before.

If the link doesn't work then let me know. More work related posts coming soon.
Here are screenshots of my website:

Fast Five [Watched]

I can't remember how long ago I watched this but there's no harm done for writing a review for this. Here goes:

In my opinion, this movie was the best out of the all Fast and Furious movies. The action was constantly flowing through the film and the idea of all characters from the previous films in one whole film was a nice touch. We could easily relate to all of them and their skills to get the job done in the end.

The character that made the film big for me was Dwayne Johnson. I grew up watching wrestling and Johnson was in fact my favourite wrestler. To see him go from the wrestling ring to the big screens shows how great of a performer he was. He is able to do children's movies such as 'The Toothfairy' and do action films such as this. I believe that because of his wrestling background, he can take any role and make it believable. He really got in touch with his character and he was a real powerhouse when it came to the fight scenes.

What blew my mind was when they stole a whole vault of money from the bank and drove from one end of the city to the other without getting caught. Not only that, they switched the cash filled vault with the empty vault that they purchased and drove away casually. Left the police, Johnson and everyone else in the cinema baffled.

I would give the film 4/5 stars and if you haven't watched it already, I recommend you do, especially if action films isn't what you normally watch. You won't be disappointed.

Can't wait for the sixth Fast and Furious movie to come out.

Next film review coming in the next couple of days.

Until then, Enjoy Life.

X-Men: First Class [Watched]

X-Men First Class: 4.5/5
The Jidz here. I watched X-Men First Class on Saturday and here is what I think:

Best X-Men Film so far.
I watched the trailer of the film and knew straight away it was going to be a good movie.

James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender made the film such a success that I don't think ill be able to cover it all in this post, but I can try.

This is in fact one of the best comic book adaptation I have ever seen so far. The cast really stepped up to their characters and the storyline was gripping from beginning to end. The origin story of Magneto was so mind boggling I'm considering watching the film again. Congratulations to Matthew Vaughn for making in my opinion the best X-Men film so far.

What I really liked was the way we were able to join all the characters on an emotional and political journey through life from the beginning as a mutant and how they discovered they could use their powers for the good of mankind, but obviously Magneto had doubts about how mankind would react to them and had other ways to get to the same goal. The friendship / rivalry between them was alive and well.

"If you're using half your concentration to look normal, then you're only half paying attention to whatever else you're doing." - Eric Lehnsherr

I also liked the character development of the young mutants Beast, Havoc (Cyclops' brother) Mystique, Banshee, Darwin, Angel Salvador (later on known as Tempest) as well as Eric and Charles as we are able to relate to them so early in the film.

The Hellfire Club was a brilliant touch to the film, they did it for me, especially Azazel (Nightcrawler's father). Jason Flemyng really did a smashing job portraying him.

The cameo appearances of Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Rebecca Romijyn (Mystique in the first three X-Men films) along with a brief glimpse of Storm when she was younger really made the film a HUGE success, I'm not surprised that it made 22 MILLION Dollars in it's first week.

Costumes, makeup, location, camera shots, editing, special effects and music was brilliant. I wouldn't have changed a thing.Along with the CGI, numerous fight scenes and the political side of the story, I think that the film deserves a 4.5 out of 5 and if you don't like superhero movies, then this film might change your mind about them in general.

"You want society to accept you. But you can't even accept yourself."  - Eric Lehnsherr
I'll stop here. I don't want to spoil the film for you. And if I have then my apologies.

Enjoy Life.

Radio Show: Live Soundz

Nothing about work but it's more about experience in the field I hopefully will work when I get my degree.

Last year September, I started university at UWL and seeing as I was studying Broadcast Journalism, I planned on getting as much experience as possible. I joined the university magazine group called 'Edify' and joined the Radio Society, where we were given the opportunity to make shows and broadcast them to the public. The station is called 'Blast Radio' and me along with my friend and classmate Jade have a two hour slot on Fridays at 6pm to 8pm. Our show is called 'Live Soundz' and as I said before in my earlier blog, we play music that people of our age group listen to and also spark up any debates that we feel are relevant. We also hold interviews with people we have met and play some of their music that they have made.

Sometimes, we are joined by our friends who do the same course as us who we have met in university and have made a close friendship with, producing some of the best and enjoyable shows.

Due to us finishing our first year, we have to reschedule our times so like I said previously, ill get back to you on this.

However, we might air our LAST show of the year this Friday (even though we haven't been doing our shows because of coursework) but if we don't, then we will concentrate on our return in September/ October.

Website link is www.Blast-Radio.co.uk

Until then, Enjoy Life.
